those are great.never saw em in their raw state.the ones i used to buy were actually wood painted to look real.why would they go to the trouble when they come prepainted

Here's one in service as Chris describes......on this one the white tipped is painted with a bright orange but that may not be necessary depending on your preference......little o-rings work great for holding the line but do wear out over time.......

You rig a loop of some sort on the dark end of the quill, then have a tight fitting rubber ring around the middle of the quill. You take the end of your line, put itdown through the rubber ring then through the loop on the bottom. Pull your line through and then tie on your hook, with a small split shot under the quill so it stands upright.you can then slide it to the depth you want and you're ready to go.

Remember , the white part goes on top.  thats a lifetime supply ,that many quills is equal to tons of bluegill. LOFR
