yes sir i sure do!!    using these are just  way to much fun !!  let it lay on the water;; and ANY type of bite;; is noticable!!  then watch it race across the water;; like a jet;; then shoot down underwater!!  caution!!  using these;; will spoil you!!

Thanks very much for your explanation Carl .You are a patient man! These sure must be durable with that kind of care and attention! Do you sometimes fish them laying on the surface instead of balanced /I can see where that would work also.

John-- i usually trade for them - or buy them.  the big ones that I prefer to get are hard to find!!  have to search quite a bit.  the wire i use for the loop; is a paper clip!! i bend it into shape over a small finish nail; first i clip off the sharp end on the quill- apply some E-6000 glue to the cut off piece;; glue on the clip and double wrap the wire loop with thread;; apply more E-600 glue.  never had any kind of problem with a wire loop coming un done or anything that way!!  as for the paint job-- I do it all by hand;;  paint from wal-mart craft dept.  paint everything white first!!  then I use;; a chartuse  ( on the bottle it says ; neon in a day glow)  for the middle part and a florescent red; or pink or orange for the top part. ( generally I have to give it 3 coats  on those 2 colors)  alternating a little ( dry type brushing across each color  just for effect)  then finally ;; I use the black and lightly dry type brush across the first 2 colors;; gives it a distinc type effect.  after all of the painting is done;; i dip them into a varnish to seal the paint- let them hang dry for a few days. ( if you dont use varnish or  something;; that paint will just peel off the first time you use them!!!!)) i let the varnish run all the way down to the thread to make a great protective seal,  so;;; yea;; it takes me a little while to make just one;; but kind of fun ; the ones i use ;; i have had for several years;; show no wear ;; looks like I just made them!

Hey Carl , do you buy the quills or collect them ? Also how do you go about tieing on the eyeand what wire do you use ? The paint job is great .Any special trick to painting them? Thanks again pal ,can't wait to get a chance to use them!

sorry for being a bit late John.  to rig the quill;;  run your line thru the rubber piece first;; then thru the wire loop on the quill;; tie on your fly or jig; then adjust to how deep you want to fish;; and just slip the rubber halfway down the quill.  thats all there is to it buddy!!  you will half to add a split shot to make it sit upright  in the water;; balance it out thing.   those things are fun to use n watch shoot underwater!!  sometimes i just let my float lay on top of the water  for extra fun!!  those jigs are just like the ones i made for tooty ;; he caught 75 crappie on it!!    thanks for the kind words guys!!
