Here's a link to a BG X RBS hybrid that looks extremely similar.

I'm seeing a significant redbreast sunfish component here. But I definitely think there's either BG or GSF somewhere in the lineage. I'm going 3/4 RBS X 1/4 BG backcross.

You're gonna have to explain that mix Mike - I'm truly not seeing a hybrid here. I went digging last evening and have found numerous pics from other fish that are identically the same (only different age classes), from this same waterway. The first one that was caught, I would have sworn was a LE but it lacked the white gill flap outline. (They are endangered in Pa)
The only other fish that meets all the markings is a RB, albeit a light coloration, which may be a result of the water quality (?).

David,
i think yours may be a hybrid. i'm not a pro, but i think its a green sunfish mixed with a pumpkinseed. What do you think?

I'm looking at the lack of fin edging, markings on the face, and the elongated ear flap as a RB. The only aspect that I can't answer for is the breast coloration, and non of these fish that I've caught from this flow has the typical bright orange coloration.
I don't know? If it is indeed a hybrid, it's very strong on the RB side of the x.

Are you sure that's a Redbreast Sunfish? It looks nearly identical to fish I've been calling "Hybrid Sunfish". I'm not saying you're wrong...but I'm saying I might be wrong. HA!
