Do you love big bluegill?
My Popper Floats start out as small cigar floats.
I cut them in half and cup the face by pressing a rounded dowel into the cut side.
then I slit one side and push the peg in to secure the line.
Turned with the cupped face towards the rod, they emit a solid "POP!" when given a sharp tug. This attracts the fish and about ten seconds later...the mini float quivers, and just disappears.
This little guy is a good example of the many hand sized fish in the pond that came for the pop - and stayed for the worm!
PS - you could use a standard "popper bug" if you want, too.

"reel" beauty
COOL......
Nothing else like it when the line starts singing .No drag or reel. Just you, the fish and the line.
Another thing I haven't tried ,"popper floats". Sounds good.
Great shot!
Look at the size of the fins on this guy...
They pull and tussle pretty good this time of year, Carl. The tele pole starts singing and you can feel the strain all through it. Its pure energy. Its no wonder Jeff Abney likes it so much.
