Do you love big bluegill?
I'm guilty; I've been trying to kill this white foam popper. It has been cast over and over and over... And it keeps going.
I've been working on tying leaders a lot, trying to get the balance right, and a tidy turnover in the bargain. Well I managed that, so hooray!
But I can't kill this popper. It's one of those hard foam ones, the kind that'll set you back 3$ or 4$ per pack of ten. I added a bit of dorsal marking with a Sharpie and poked some sili-legs through the body with a needle. Basic Kmart stuff, improved.
But, they're tougher than I imagined. I've gotten about 10 fish on this one alone in the last few days, with no significant damage. The thing has been retied on the tippet several times. It's a little raggedy, but the fish are still swinging at it.
I'm gonna use it as a model for some new popper ideas to come. For now, I'll keep using it until ::something:: comes loose or falls off!
