Pickerel can get long but not as long as Pike .I've gotten them up to 22"s.Possibly even longer.They fight best in cooler water when they seem to be most active.They are often caught thru the ice too.Cranks and Spoons work well on them!They are a prolific New Jersey fish.In summer when they are in the shallow weeds I like to call them up with flutter spoons,rapalas and slow falling Jersey Rigg worms.Sharp teeth, gotta have a pliers and hold them by the head behind the gills. They 're thin so its pretty easy to wrap the hand around .

Nice lookin fish- I don't think we have these here in Northern Kentucky- Would like to catch one of these someday though.
