Do you love big bluegill?
Pond Redux
Chunky pond brim.
Worm on micro popper float, #8 sproat hook.
Most of these fish were just barely picking up the bait, the float barely moving. I had to pay close attention; a balanced quill float might have helped.
Occasionally they would slam it hard and a few nearly came out of the water on the run.
These hand sized fish were plentiful, too... More than I've seen in this pond. I'm certain the abundant rain and mild temps of late have got them stirred up, since I don't believe these were bedding fish.

Thanks, Vince. I don't take any of these fish, since this is a private pond.
I do kill a few of the smallest ones due to gut hooking, so that could help increase numbers on the bigger ones.
I'll keep an eye out on that full moon, Vince. Thanks for the reminder.

Nice thick gill, David. Nothing at all wrong with a mess of these. I have only seen a few beds in a subdivision pond I fished last week. The full moon on the 25th of this month should be a real exciting time!
