I predict the next world record bluegill will be caught by KVD at a BPS in their aquarium. .. you heard it here first. lol

There's a statement I can relate to! You guys know how to make a million dollars raising fish? You start with two million!  HA!

I believe that record status is dependent upon your location. In Indiana, private water fish are eligible, but fish on a feeding program are NOT.

We can't raise em' for the glory, we have to do it for the love! :)

Well, it's actually not a record, Tooty...except at Richmond Mill. The record fish in NC is bigger... 4-5, in 1967. And you're right. Pretty sure the IGFA ISN'T recognizing fish from privately managed waters.
As whoppers go, though, this one surely counts. I like that it is possible for such a fish to be grown. You or I could do it.
However, it would probably be cheaper to pay the folks at Richmond Mill to catch theirs!

WELL I'M NOT GOING TO GET IN ON THIS CONVERSATION !!!!!! I will say that this is without doubt the biggest bluegill I"ve ever seen !!!!!! If one is interested in records I wonder if it qualifies as a record because it comes from a non public water. No matter cause if I had caught it I"d have taken tonssssssssssssss of pics of it , measurements, weight ect. Then promptly turned all the info over to EXTREME TALENT TIM !!!!!!!! OF COURSE IT WOULD BE RELEASED ALSO .................

Well I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, I'm headed to the Crappy Cabin to finish up the next 3 days of the modern gun Christmas Deer Hunt , it should be lots of fun, a Dr. buddy of mine is going to stop by and show me the deer from his hunt, down the road from me they have a hunting lodge and he is paying BIG BUCKS  to kill a Boone and Crocket  deer they have been raising in a 10 acre pen for the last 6 years, they made sure he had plenty of feed and minerals to grow those huge antlers. I know it's going to take skill to hunt him down in that pen and make a proper shot for a humane kill, and I know he will be proud of it when he places it on his wall.I hope everyone has a happy new year and everyone catches a new personal best.   LOFR

I'm sure your friend will be very proud, your lordship. Tell me though...... do you suppose that the folks at the hunting lodge put on blindfolds everytime they fed that deer? 10 acres is a pretty small parcel of land for an animal of that size, I would reckon you could observe it anytime you wanted in order to monitor its growth, totally unlike a fish, where you can't see into its environment.

And would it be fair to assume that they also monitored the health of that deer, and called in a vet at the first sign of distress? Big investment there, good thing they can always check up on it. Wish I could do that with my fish.....when I notice distress, it's often because they're belly up on the surface...too late.

One deer in 10 acres huh? And I'm again assuming that the deer in question cannot fly, climb trees, or burrow underground......limited to two dimensional travel, unable to find a hiding spot. Unlike that three pound BG in RM, with its three dimensional travel in over 120 acres of water.

And I love the fact that when I used to deer hunt I could take the metal jacketed "lure" right to the deer, with a simple squeeze of the trigger......long distance. As I recall It was pretty cold just sitting in that stand waiting and hoping for the critter to walk into view though. Oftentimes, I wouldn't expend enough effort to keep warm.

 Please congratulate your friend for me, as life is short and happiness often fleeting. I'm glad he's getting to do something he enjoys....to me, that makes it all worthwhile.

Good luck with your hunt, be sure and wear your harness if you climb!

Had a great Christmas LOFR. There were no tears, and no one got hurt. An entire family together for 6 hours - and nothing went wrong! Now that is good management. Hahahahaha!

No Tony it isn't cheating. You gets what you pays for. The goal is achieved - that is what management does. Growing giant fish or eliminating them through habitat control - an end is reached. Personally, I'm glad to see someone remind us of that.

Now, congrats to Bruce on the thrill of catching such a dinner plate. It must surely have been epic.
