The maggots were working today in the cold and clear water. I removed the split shot and that slowed the fall and the gills would hit it when it got close to the bottom. I had a few crickets but the few bigger gills hit the maggots in white. Thanks Jim and Dink!

Yeah...that sounds like a NC/VA tactic for those shallow waters. Sometimes, 5 to 6 feet deep is as deep as it gets in those environments. Good job!

We still managed some nice gills this afternoon despite the cold temperatures. Water is pretty clear in this lake so I took off the drop shot and just let these baits fall slow and the hits would come near the bottom in 5-6 FOW.
