Do you love big bluegill?

Found a nice article by Glenn Lau in this old magazine about how to catch "the biggest Bluegills ever". Couple of good ideas to try out next spring. Love these old mags!

Walt- Glenn talked about using a small bait casting reel with 4 lb test on a short sensitive ice rod in deep water and basically "drop-shotting" 2 small wet flies on a 1 lb leader.  He also talked about how fantastic raw saltwater shrimp is for Bluegill bait.  You put a small piece on a 1/8 oz jig head or use a short shank # 8 hook and a small split shot.  I'm thinking of buying an ice rod and trying the fly thing at Lake Perris.  I pretty much already fish this way, but I just drop shot crickets on an ultralight 2 lb test spinning rod, or fish tiny jigs and spoons.  I'm going to try shrimp too.
