As I've always said........I don't take it for granted......I remember the first time I fished on the Albemarle and then I discovered the (9) rivers that drain into the sounds.  After ten years of discovery, I then made plans to relocate to the center of it all.......I still commute almost 70 miles one way but just a few more years and that'll be done too...........It's special to have this many productive places to wet a line for quality panfish......dreams do come true!

Below is a location I recently caught 20 nice shellcrackers ....in and around the roots and cypress knees.....water is only two to three feet out to where the boat is sitting....

Thanks Troy.........I almost exclusively fish under a float on the Albemarle........these fish are often in three feet of water or less in areas that render bottom fishing impossible so you tip your jig with a wiggler or live cricket and throw around the trees and pads.......I associate RedEar Sunfish as a "colony" species so anytime I catch one .....I like to fan cast and thoroughly fish the area,,,,many times that will yield multiple fish......I've caught as many as 50 fish in the same area at a time before but most often it's ten or less in any one spot for me........compared to Coppernose which you may see upwards of a hundred fish in one area.....I have a friend that fishes the Santee Cooper Lakes for Shellcrackers and he only uses a split shot and a "whole night crawler" fished wacky style and he swears by it...........
