Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My friend's spouse caught this Flier fishing with a live minnow.........10.80 Inches long and 18 ounces......taken in a local creek off the Pasquotank River which is part of the Albemarle Estuary.........we've had a fantastic local run in 2015......makes me want to target them in some of my honey holes.........

Thanks Jason.....hope you find a few.......remember they are very low oxygen tolerant compared to other sunfish.......

That's a trophy! I've never found those here. Maybe one day I'll get lucky.

Nice fish!  How close to the State Record and/or World Record?

Thanks Carl......the story goes she was talking with a gentleman that was working in his yard close to the creek bank when her telescopic pole was pulled down abruptly and she recovered to land this beast of a flier......she had caught several other citation fliers both in Virginia and North Carolina but this fish was clearly her personal best.....
