Do you love big bluegill?
080514- 84 deg surface temp. Went to Five Lakes water temp was up 6 degs since the last time I was there and tried my favorite spots to date and they were vacant…. Not one fish to be had. Scanned out deep some small isolated schools suspended that wouldn’t touch any offering. Scatter casted the shallows here and there and some small fish wasting my crawlers. Found a small 1 ft hump with a hard bottom with some scattered weed. Hit a school of fish mostly 5-7 inches gills with one approaching nine… many of them would be eaters in my keeper slot. Picked up a 8.3” p’seed… beautiful and robust. Action slowed so I left it and would return before dusk. Tried a few other spots with meager results. Picked up an 8” class p’seed on the hump on the way out. Most fish were caught on crawlers and drop shot. Slow, slow day… but that’s fishing.
