Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Floats and float fishing both have a lot of fans here at BBG. Hers a pic for the float fans.
These floats came from eBay, and cost me a whole dollar. That's 8 for a dollar - shipped free. They came from China, so took a week to get here.
And they had no eyes. They are four inches long, so are just right sized. But they're useless without some way to attach them to a line.
So, I added some eyes from hard wire. I've used similar floats for years, so I know these will do the job once balanced.
Now, I really have too many floats....

I'm a slip floater Keith. I like slip floating this sort, because it keeps the line down out of the wind.
Most people think slip floats are only useful for deep water. But 2 feet or 20, it's the same.
From these I'll go to a tiny little popper float, when I want an absolutely 'no impact' presentation.

How you gonna rig them now Scruff? You gonna use keeper at the top?

Thanks Johnny.
These aren't bad floats - I've used the same style before. Balance 'em right and they do the job. Last a lifetime?
No. But 8 for a buck.... That's okay. Of course, eyeless is useless.
I pulled some thermocouple wire, super glue and heat shrink tubing from the shop. Bend the wire in a "U" shape, glue it to the shaft so the bend makes an eye and add a heat shrink sleeve to finish.
A few were actually drilled end wise, and a wire-formed eye inserted.... That was a little too tedious. Plus, the shafts tend to split if you drill too far into the end grain.
Either way, they'll do nicely as slip floats.

I wondered about the craftsmanship on those eyes-

They eyes are the best part of those floats. : )

Nice engineering.
