Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My son Matt got this January giant in open water on a 1/64th oz jig tipped with a worm. Fish went 11 1/2 inches. Water temp was 38 F, air was at 40.

Derrick, most of our bigger gills are caught from small private and public lakes that most people don't even mess with. Matts big gill came from a 1 acre pond a good 5 minutes from the house. I would prospect for 'big bluegill water' first and foremost, then see how big the fish are during the spring spawning period when they are shallow and relatively easy to catch.
