Keith ,I generally go with 10 and 12 lb. test with medium action rods but this small reel 8# test mono tube presentation worked into the face of the wind and 50 degree or a bit higher  water temp  . It was what was on the reel that i bought for 10 bucks at a garage sale .That appeals to me and my fishing wallet .

Comfortable for the most part ,  Carl .The feet got a little cold in the wading boots though because I forgot to wear thicker socks.

Thanks......I saw as low as 55 today in places that had been 67 to 69 last week.........normal swing for these late winter/early spring cold fronts........55 is a great water temp for shallow crappie if it settles out without the big ups and downs......
