Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Matt and 'The One that Got Away'...But Not This Time!

Matt's bruiser channel cat exceeded 30 inches and took a fresh chicken liver sac. He took control of the fight early and banked the brute using Euro bite alarm tactics. We removed the other hook and released the warrior to please another angler someday.

Ken...these fish the past two days have come from a 4 acre, club-owned pond where the small bass are pounded and the catties kind of ignored. We have a half-dozen other smaller public and private lakes from 1 to 5 acres that have yielded good catties over the years.

This is the 4th channel cat we have taken from this particular water that have exceeded the 30 inch mark...which is a Maryland Award Catch citation for these species. We have been selectively harvesting a few here and a few there and feel there could be a high teen weight or even a 20 pound cat in this water. Only one 30 incher has been harvested.

The quest continues!

Wow these cats youve been targeting are amazing... how large are the bodies of water you've been fishing?

That big forked tail makes for one heck of a good fight. Congrats on your catch. Maybe one day you will get to battle him again.
