With spinners I am making long casts and fishing over the weeds and rocks . With the Sluggos I'm going right in the pads that aren't too thick . Trying not to get too close to spook fish but I might be over compensating at times .Still catching good but the lost fish prove I am no expert .

JOHN;; TO GET ACROSS THOSE LILLY PADS;; I RAISED MY OUTBOARD MOTOR AND USED MY PVC PIPE TO PUSH US ACROSS THE TOP OF THEM TO FISH ; OPEN POCKETS ;; ALONG EDGES;  EVERYWHERE WE COULD;; I THINK TOOTY HAS A PIX OF ME DOING IT

Of course standing in the boat helps.

Those size pads are weeks ahead in size of those up here Carl . Thems 'losing fish ' pads .I would use a Johnson weedless spoon or some type of rat or Frog over the tops with heavy line and longer rod . In my non raised seat boat I lose Pickerel and Bass in that heavier stuff ! Gills can be in the pockets and on the edges though .

You are quite welcome Ben .Best of luck . They are found shallow and deep but the growing lily pads hold them quite well . Where Rock and weeds come together was a real ticket for finding Pickerel yesterday .They can be seen cruising the edge of shallow rocks inside the weed line .

#4Blue Fox Spinner was hot taking three , losing two .Sluggo grabbed one lost one .Aglia grabbed one .5 Pickerel 4 lost .I am not keeping up with their aggression ,must sharpen hooks and keep a tighter line and play fish less aggressively.
