Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

First time using the spinner/spoon/ worm rig, used the Classic Acme Kastmaster .... a rainy muddy water concept...this fish was caught casting to a 3-4ft. flat adjacent to a dropoff of perhaps 6-10 ft and perhaps more shortly before a storm and little cold front...need to test this drifting and trolling

an eagle claw float stop cinched up close to the clevis/spinner is the solution to keeping this rig contained for casting.

The spinner/spoon combo is easy to assemble but read through my discussions on "Spoon Chuckers "for its drawbacks as well as pluses...I had some old Eagle claw snelled spinner rigs designed for small trout/Panfish and the hooks rusted..so I cutoff the spinners/clevis's and beads and utilized them this way.

My spinner /spoon worked well today ,caught alot of BG/Bass and
White Perch...but a drawback is the spinner seperates from the spoon while casting (maybe if it was mounted on a shafted spoon it would be better.I'm thinking the added spinner/Spoon combo is better for trolling and drifting cause casting can cause tangles . I'll continue to use it under muddy or badly off colored rainy water as I think it is still a trigger to some degree. Fish feel a spinner I think better than a spoon and I'm using it more for vibration than flash...Its a tiny spinner and the spoon has the flash and perhaps a little more flash from the spinner and added bigger profile works better under the conditions of cloudy visibility for the fish.
A side note :Lots of bass hit Jersey Riggs/Berkley Power worms and the Crappie and Yellow Perch hit Bomber D5 cranks as well as small spoons.Was surprised the Perch were up close to banks at times today .Thats weird for July in Cupsaw Lake New Jersey!! Gotta say brother Greg and I hit fish constantly for 7 and 1/2 hours today. ,seriously we never had a lullof any concerning length of time!... nothing over 15"s but we could have fed a football squad if we kept the fish.That's if they would clean their own.Ha Ha!
