Do you love big bluegill?

This one really seems different with the Orange eye.

I plan to do a better job this year taking pics early, I think you are right about loosing the color of the fish, but the eyes were that color when I caught him, I was wondering if they may have added some redbreast at one time and maybe this was a cross.

Hey Zach, I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure you have a regular bluegill there.

I looked at your other photo, with all the dead bass and bluegills. These fish had been dead for a while, perhaps on ice, and not too many of them look exactly alike. Colors are faded and eyes are pale...attributes of fish that have been dead for a while. That orange eye is odd, but I think it is more of a result of this fish losing color due to passing on, and perhaps being in a cooler for a period of time.

I am sure that someone on this site may have additional input, but it would have been easier to ID if we could have seen the fish fresh out of the water. The true markings of the fish would have been distinct and accurate on a 'fresh' catch.

So...I hope this helps...
