Cool! The sabiki "fly" (I dont know what else to call it) Is basically a nymph-like thing, while also looking like a small bait fish. Heres a pic of ths rot Ive got:

A google image search will turn up all sorts of other ideas. Basically just a drop shot variation, when used in freshwater.

Interesting David .Never heard of Sabiki rigs .I have been using tandems through the ice this year again .Also a "pounding " 1/8th oz. sinker under a beaded nymph I tied caught three fish for me this trip out .

As you may know by now anglers in the NC/SC border area use sabiki rigs to catch WP. They split the commercially prepared rigs into two segments, as most come pre-packaged in gangs of six hooks. The "flies" on these rigs are little more than a bright tuft of yarn on a small hook(12-16), with a rainbow Mylar wing attached. Maybe a gold tinsel flash is tied in for good measure.

When I was a kid in SoCal, we used these same rigs to jig from the piers. A weight is tied to the bottom and the whole affair is "jerked" up and allowed to flutter down. Those flies were even less elaborate - just a few shreds of red, white or yellow plastic on a hook.

You can find sabiki rigs on ebay for just a few bucks each.
