Black spotted Gill
Caught on a home made Micro Slider jig head, tipped with chartreuse curly tail.
Line 4 lb mono, Ultra light Shakespeare trigger spin. Surface water temp measured at 74 degrees, using aquarium thermometer.
Cast Slider straight to the banks overhanging brush n' branches, and retrieved slooooowly. Not huge, but fun.

The Hobie outback has a pedal drive system, the working section of which protrudes through the lower hull. What your seeing, Tony, is the scupper well leading to the bottom of the hull. It IS open, but the hull is sealed.In another photo you'll see a plug that fits in this spot when the drive unit is removed.
Added to this open scupper design shared by all Sit On Top kayaks, I'm a heavyweight at 6'1", 220 lbs. This means I displace a lot of water, in other words - and so it rises up through the scupper. Im dieting and I may lose some of the weight in time, so I could experience a drier ride then. Or.... I'll most likely just get a bigger kayak with more capacity! LOL
