Hey Allen-The Statewide NJ ruling on Snapping Turtles is one per day ,12 inch minimum size.April ,May and June are closed season though . This would have been a legal keep i guess but I wasn't about to measure !Lol! Instead I got my Bear Grylls knife out and cut the braided line.I have never eaten Turtle but a Native American at a Pow Wow once told me thee are 7 cuts of meat .I am assuming he meant 4 legs,Tail ,Neck and meat under the shell.

Does your state allow fishing for Turtles?  Turtles are TASTY :)

We've got too many turtles in my lake.  If you use bait, especially live worms, you'll catch a turtle.  They are mostly Red Sliders that people release when as pets, they get too big.
