20150318-ICE FISHING KERSWILL LAKE… post cold front 20 degree drop in tem a clear blue skies.. 20+ mph gusts from the NW. not ideal fishing conditions … I always believed the words my Dad used to tell me “fishing the bad days will only make you a better fisherman”. My intentions today at startoff was to fill a freezer gap in my perch possession limit for dinner… earlier in the week wixom lake produced many smallish perch never found any schools of quality fish. Fishing Kerswill lake started producing some decent sized perch on my last outing so I continue that strategy again on this lake.
Started off in the same hole where I left the a couple days prior… immediately started getting the bites on the fire tiger tungsten jig with a live waxie. Caught some decent sized perch and lost a lunker at the hole… master angler sized lunker! Let the hole rest and proceeded to check out the crappie bite deeper in the basin… they were basically suspended up to six feet off the bottom. Dropped a waxie tipped tungsten in front of their noses and inched it up. They were not chasing far. One fish after another smaller in size. Fun couple of hours!
