this is a pale april bluegill from southern illinois.not as pink as the other one and starting to get a splash of color.we do catch pinkish ones tho.

this was the average large size years ago at this lake.probably 10% smaller now.guys found the beds.a deep lake with steep shoreline sandy bottoms.i have never fished it during the spawn but found areas with beds,in more tan 12 feet.1000s of them.this is the lake where the bigger ones roam in pods in open water away from any real structure.

,hey david,thats what tooty calls em.i forget what their called.the gills love em, why i dont know.a good sinking fly for deep weeds .tungsten makes it possible to keep it small and still sink pretty quick.we trolled thru a school with with little spinners and i threw a fly and got this one.probably over 39 ft of water
