I'm with you. At some point. you must begin to reach a diminished effectiveness with sinking lines.
And I still like casting my UL spinning gear. No reason you can't do both.

i have some of those fake nails,i am making these to throw on spinning gear.those plastic ones and the tin minnow  are for flyrods and i think to be used on sinking line.i dont like throwing a sinking line and i like to stay in contact with my bait.i want these mini spoons to use on deep weed lines and for perch on lake michigan.i know people love their sinking lines but i am not one of them.below a certain depth i like jigs spoons live bait .the bluegills really chase these i was surprised i was thinking crappie more than gill.

I think Greg Mc Williams was making those finger nail spoons

Okay, yeah, I'm familiar. Thanks for clearing that up.
They would make great fly spoons, as you are aware.
Awhile back, someone here was also making them from plastic fingernails, as I recall.
But I like this idea better.
I've caught nice gills on a small Silver Minnow, with a tiny grub tail trailer. With the solid hook, these would go a long way to duplicating that.

david netcraft sells these as ice blades, designed with a crease and folded on the ends so a hook can be soldered to it,they come in a few shapes and sizes

Very cool Jim ,I'll be following your remarks about these flutter spoons you're making! Really, a jewelry punch ! Gotta get one ! I thought you drilled them. Nice idea mimicking the cicada .

A while back I was thinking along the same lines for trout spoons but I couldn't get enough weight to cast with my UL outfit. Maybe I'll revisit them.

These are willow leaf blades?
I've seen some large ones in Jann's catalog that would work, maybe size 3
And they sell "minnow blades" which look promising with a single hook.

yes these are my first attempts john.the middle one i am trying to make a tiny cicada type lure.i think i have it balanced right just need the right hook.the craft stores have a jewelry  punch that makes nice little holes in the metal
