No way buddy - it looks great. Every book, if it offers only one thing useful, is worth owning.

As part of my last move, I tossed shelves of books. My logic was, "Well, I got the internet - dont need all them books anymore."

I regret that decision, today. I have vowed that when I get a book hereafter, one that I value, I will keep it.

If it gives you more than a little pleasure, it becomes something more than a hobby. A life of its own, you might say. Keep up the great work!

david -just a book.,put it out there as there are many people on here that are new to tying.i did not know this book existed when i started.the flies.one thing i have learned in life is there are infinite ways of doing something wrong and usually only a few to do it right.the reason the flies in books and on the net look so well is they were assembled correctly from the first wrap of thread.i have not studied every page of this book it is a reference and many feel the best ever.i use to find the correct way to get a material to lie on the hook if it is giving me problems.hey its just a hobby,i might go back to a cricket and a bobber when i get tired of this hobby

david this book is not a book of fly patterns,it has fly patterns, but is the accumulated knowledge of tying.every thing about hook sizes and types materials and how to prepare and use them.hard to summarize at 375 pages.i have at least 30 fly books and stacks of fly tyer american angler etc going back 20 years at least.this is a manuel not a pattern book.like most things we forget or never learn the basics.david many many flies use only 2 or 3 materials.

In the practical sense, you could be right. In the esoteric, not even close!

I just got a book that details flies using only three common materials, and that's just ONE example of whats out there. I also have Leisers book of patterns, which one could also say is the end all. Either way, its good to have a book in hand to learn from.
