The reel is 10.6 oz. ..... hoping to find a  6'6" Rod but may match with a 6' . Might have a great price on another 6' Quantam 'Dance Class' rod  .I have a DC6' with a Pflueger Pres reel on it  that has done well for several years catching good Bass and Pickerel . The 'President' is a lighter reel I believe and the DC rod is rated as medium.

yep should work with either. i have a shimano sahara 2500fe on a medium power fast action composite rod that i use for whitebass/sauger. it is around the same weight and size of that reel and it balances nicely. it is either a 6'6" or a 7' rod.

Was thinking Medium Light Rod maybe Medium .Seems like a heavy reel .I'll check the weight specs. Thanks for the good suggestion !

ive used those and the z model years ago. pretty descent reels for what i remember of them, probably had it on a 7 ft light to medium light rod. if i remember i was still into white bass heavily and they served the purpose. i been using nothing but midrange reels in the $50 range. i barely clean them and toss them and buy a new one when they fail. im still using the 25 and 30 size reels for all my panfish rigs, i hate ultra lights.

i would check the lube points on that reel, after sitting in the box for 10 years or so it might have dried out.

Thanks Tracy appreciate the response .Do you use one of these style reels? I haven't put line on it or matched a rod yet .

the diawa ABS is the spool design. it allows you to fill with line right up to the edge of the spool without a tangled mess when casting. think of it as an anti backlash system for spinning reels.

Still cant find out what ABS stands for but it has something to do with the spools construction
