better have a stout flyrod too.there are monster stripers in the south..the 8-10lbers we catch around here destroy reels and rods.

Carl, do a youtube search for a "Puglisi Minnow". If you want to chase Stripers with those, I would echo John about using a heavy-gauge Gamakatsu, or other quality brand hook.

They do look great . A lot of these were tied on a heavy Gauge Gamakatsu hook.
