I don't disagree with your tipping theory Jeff as it relates to the success of a particular lure....Having fished dark brackish waters my entire life with limited exceptions.....you tend to lean towards the combination for best results.....Live Grass Shrimp even work better than crickets and I also like to thread them on my favorite lure color.....Thanks Mark....Tooty had the imagination for these baits we are just tweaking them a bit now for personal preferences........
Hi great looking fly Sleepy
I'm talking about fishing one rod at a time (although I have fish with two rods out) and also fishing the crickets in fairly deep water; 10 feet and deeper where the larger fish are.
I don't know how you have time to drop shot crickets and fish a different rod! Whenever i dropshot crickets they were hitting left and right.
I "tip" too sometimes, but to find out how well a jig or fly or lure works, it needs to be fished alone, by itself without the help of bait, especially a big live cricket. Panfish will hit just about any lure that has a cricket on it. That's why I drop shot crickets alone on circle hooks on one rod, and fish tiny jigs or spoons "straight"...without bait on another ultralight rod.
