Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I'm so excited to get these awesome flies Dave! I just cannot wait to give each one a try at Lake Perris! I have a feeling that the "Bleeding Heart" is going to be great on the lakes big crappie! There's no questions about the olive and green patterns being real Bluegill and Redear killers. These are beautiful and very well tyed. A super big THANK YOU David! Once I get back out on the water in my 'tube, these flies are going to get a work out. There will be photos posted, you betcha!

I've come to appreciate a dark eye, too since our earlier discussions.
But I've got a lot of chrome ones. --
I admit to being fascinated with the hook up style of fly.
I know these are not very professional, but my fingers are cross crossed.
I would be jazzed if you caught a trout on any of them!!

Actually I don't mind using bead eye flies at all, but all the photos you see of these flies make them look like the hook point rides down, when in fact the hook rides up, which really is a good thing because it will not get hung up in brush or weeds as easily as a hook-down fly would. Aside from looking like a minnows eyes, I've found that a dark colored bead eye fly looks a lot like a damselfly larva, (with those big eyes that they have) and I've found these insects in the stomachs of Bluegill several times.

I hope they work for you.
I know you don't like bugeyed flies, but I was on an "eye jag" during the time those were tied.
I'll be tubing with some of those same ones myself, this season. We can compare notes, sir!
