Thanks everyone for your kind words,  The Copper-Heads are a lot harder to catch when the water is this cold, but not impossible. The fly-rod RULES,  I did feel like I had to "tease" them into striking today, but it was well worth the effort. The main reason I went out today was to keep my fly-rod skills "up-to-snuff" the fish were just a nice bonus......

Thanks Don......I caught several coppers a bit deeper last month when surface temperatures were in the high 30s.....Likewise the bites were subtle but any time I get a bite I'm happy, especially during the colder months. Hope I get my boat out of the shop early next week so I can get back out there......

Alright Don!!

I've been conversing with some guys over at PondBoss this week, concerning the Coppernose's supposed "uncatchability" from colder water. Hopefully I will be able to compile some additional data, and will post the results here also.

It's early yet, but I already think the results may cause us to re-examine a few things , and possibly raise an eyebrow or two.winking

In the meantime, way to get out and get it done Mr. Schmotzer! And on a flyrod also...very nice!

Very nice fish Don......

Because of the cold water, the "take" was very light and except fro the first few seconds, there wasn't much fight in this Copper-Head. (nothing like the fight you get in spring/summer).....Don
