Threadfin Shad don't get much bigger than what's pictured.  Gizzard Shad, those are your 2-pounders.

They all make great bait, live or cut!

No I haven't John.....I have a bitsy minnow crank bait in a similar pattern......A friend gave me the bait pictured and they call it a "flitterbait".....But it's more of a bigger fish lure....

Those are great indicators of big Spotted Bass on Lake Norman. Ive actually seen these guys up to 2lbs..Don't know if thats big for this species.

That's the primary baitfish in our California Lakes.  At my local lake Perris, the big Bluegill and Redears feed on the small young shad that are an inch or so in length.  I've found whole shad in their stomachs many times.  That's why small spoons, jigs and crankbaits work so well here.

Ever throw a bait by the storm Company called the Thin Fin? It represents the profile of this Shad quite well I'd say .I've caught Perch ,Bass and Pickerel on the Fire Tiger pattern.
