Do you love big bluegill?

I know this isn't big for most of you guys but for where we fish this is a real dandy! So happy to have caught it!

Bruce there are hybrids in this pond just so you don't need to guess.

Wow....very strange hybridization, 1/4 GS cross. Just another chapter in mother natures freak show!

If I was forced to guess, I'd say this is a 3/4 BG X 1/4 GS cross.

i agree Bruce look at the mouth size too And there is a little yellow on the fins.
With the hybird I have in my pond I think this is a HBG. But again that just me.

Actually, I could be wrong, but I think this is a special fish. It may have some hybridization in it. Do you know if it comes from waters with hybrids. To me it looks like a nice bull male bluegill, but it's got some tail fringing action going on. That golden border on that tail suggests a hybrid.

Right Bruce. Same way here. When one of these get on the hook the crowd erupts!

I think that 9" is excellent. Great job. The funny thing is, my mindset changes on a dime when I'm fishing for bluegill. If I've been catching 6-7 inchers all day, then a 9-incher popes up, it's all "oohs" and "ahs" from everybody. I love it.
