It's hard to say if it's a Perris thing, or maybe a California thing....but just the same, I know exactly what you mean. Much bluer, and generally seem to have a more distinct fin bordering.
Bruce...Maybe you know...Are the Coppernose BG in their native waters (Florida I presume), this color? These fish that have been introduced into California lakes, especially Lake Perris, seem to be kind of a shade of blue in color. I just love catching these fish and quickly holding them in my hand as I look at them in wonder and amazement at their beautiful colors and markings, all in metallics and iridescents. This is also one of my reasons that I catch & release. Too darn pretty to kill! (I'm getting soft in my old age...)
