Thanks for the info. I have found one lure that seems to catch their attention but, I don't recall who makes it or what it's called. It appears to be a Rapala style. I will be posting a picture later on for everyone to see. It sure gets the job done.

Lol!...No purist here Jim! ....I'm an opportunist I guess....I certainly love flyfishing but when I've spent the time to get to a lake and not hitting on that popper (which I prefer)...I "resort to other means"...I also have 2 other rods along(ultra lights) rigged differently for different situations....Usually this "system" gets some gills.....Well,usually..lol!

m.rowden...One of the things I'm still doing after all these years to find the gills is "scouting"...just gotta take the time and energy to fish different bodies of water and find out what swims in that particular body of water...some have little "bait stealers" others have substantial "big shouldered" fish....and probably lakes with everything inbetween....even yet I'm finding lakes that I fished "years" ago(like 35) and now finding have a good population of "respectable" fish...time and different spawning conditions from year to year change in a lake...never write off a lake as bad forever....time changes things...I've found that out of course it helps to be blessed with hundreds of lakes within an hour of where I live here in northern minnesota.. certainly everyone's not that fortunate to "pick" lakes at one's leisure.........John

Great fish! Is that worm dirt I see around those fingernails? And I thought you were a purist!
