Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

It took several turns to decide what it was and whether we could land it......These fish become very interesting on telescopic poles....About three to four pounds.....

They are similar to snake heads, in many ways. Both provide some excellent sport, too.

I really enjoy the bowfin story, which is all I have... I have only caught one in many years of angling. But they are devoted parents, as are the Asian snake heads. All of these are really fascinating animals and there is a bow fin group with website on the internet. Just google them.

Check out the picture of a baby bowfin in the comments.....don't know how many folks have ever seen one....look amazingly close to their parents....

I know this is a Bowfin, but its amazing how close they are to SnakeHeads. which are in NC for sure. I've caught a few bass fishing.

Here's a baby bowfin that stays together in a cluster pod instinctively with the rest of the babies and the male guards them relentlessly......

Yessir, those are some crazy colors. I haven't seen them in person but i looked them up on the internet and it's incredible that they turn colors like that!

Yes Chris....I assume you're talking about the turquoise fin colors...it's not as distinct on our dark fish but I'll try to post some pics next spring when they are guarding the little ones.....It is unique!
