Well, John, that is my first fly-rod catfish of 2009. I caught 13 channel cats in 2008 while fly-fishing. The one in the picture I caught at night while fishing for crappies.
Last year, my biggest on a fly was 24.5", which was caught during the middle of the day. I also caught a number of channel cats on bass-sized fly-rod poppers while fishing for bass at night.
The fight is incredible on a 5wt or 6wt fly rod!!
