White Perch are invasive down in Oklahoma.  Kill every one you catch down there, according to the ODWC.  Up here in MI, there are some in the Great Lakes, and they're frowned upon.

Yes David there are willing biters .I catch fewer these days from this same lake however.I don't know why.

Allen did you mean to say ; NOT removed? Their reasoning was to introduce Walleye to control the white Perch .I 'd just as soon use white Perch I catch for cut bait.

They are good eating for sure. Back before I knew I wasn't supposed to like them, I ate em plenty. They are relatively short lived, and inhabit open cool waters. This means they dont accumulate many toxins or "off" flavors, and so they possess a clean white flesh.

They are considered invasive in most inland waters where they have been introduced, however, and are universally held in disdain. Here in SC they aren't even listed, neither as game or non-game fish. We are advised to remove any caught, and they have led to a style of fishing here called "perch jerkin'".

In short you go out in a boat, off points, over channels, near drop offs, most any open wind swept areas, in 18-30 feet of water. That water depth is key.

Now, drift with the wind and watch your fish finder until you see a school of fish below - they are likely to be perch.
Drop a Swedish Pimple, a Fox spoon or just about any jig into the school and go to town, snapping that rod tip up and down. A little hook tipping with worm wont hurt. It is a winter pastime for the guys not too proud to admit to doing it, and is often the only reliable fishing to be had in the off season.

I like them because they are willing biters. Once you get into a mess of them you are gonna have some fun.They strike with abandon, and there is little doubt they want your baited hook. Ive caught them on everything from Beetle-Spins to worms, from spoons to flies. They have saved many an otherwise sparse fishing trip.

Seriously?!?!  C-n-R on White Perch?  Do the managers realize those things are going to overpopulate and stunt if they are removed at a high rate?

Yes and thats a decent size to keep ,but  the community Lake initiated catch and release this year which is fine with me .
