You are correct Joseph. A "strain" has distinct physiological differences, but not always really easily identifiable morphological characteristics. I noticed that when I fish Bob Lusk's trophy bluegill ponds that many of his bluegill have red eyes, which I've never seen here in Nebraska.

No sorry you're wrong Cody. Those are 100% Bluegill. There are no Green Sunfish mixed in. These fish in this lake have a unique coloration.

thiis is not a coppernose mail it is a breeding bluegill/green sunfish hybrid. (the fins are too sharp &yellow to be a copper nose.)

Well we didn't have them here in Southern Calif until 1973, now several lakes have them.
