This is a Wild Cherry Bluegill I carved as a birthday gift for my father. It measures approximately 11 inches long. It is all one piece of wood, no separate added pieces.

Thanks for the kudos, Zig.
This was my first attempt at a fish carved "in the round". I don't even remember when I carved it exactly, but Dad says I gave it to him for his 50th birthday, which would be thirty years ago as he will turn 80 in about a week. I have carved several other items in my sporadic less than stellar carving career, but nothing as detailed as this. My father is the one who has been a very active carver for most of his life. My passion on the artistic side goes to creating furniture and wooden toys for my grandkids. I have plenty of opportunity to be creative as I currently have 12 grandkids and another on the way. To date I have built 4 cribs, two dressers, two wooden trains and numerous other toddler toys. I build signs for my family's homes and I also build model construction equipment from plans I purchase from Grizzly Industrial. Some of my son's work (he is a woodworker as well) and mine can be seen at moseleywoodworks@wordpress.com. You can leave comments there as well.
