Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Spent a little over four hours today tossing jigs at a local water reservoir.
The weather is unusually warm lately and the fish have moved shallow . It was cloudy most of the day with temps in the low 70's . Water temps hit 60 by the afternoon .
Best performer of the the day was the 1/64 Trout Magnet. Bison , chartreuse with black back , and black front, rear chartreuse. They out fished my tied jigs today .
I found a new use for a Rod I'd not been happy with before . A 5' Daiwa Presso . Matched up with a Shimano Sahara 500 spooled with 2# PLine I was able to cast the little 1/64 jigs up to 60-70' .
I caught 33 bream , 17 various sized small LM bass , 13 Crappie , biggest just over a pound , and 4 gold shiners . A fun day of ultralight fishing . Look at the color on this one ! Gillchaser

I got a chance to go back today . I just had to with the weatherman predicting the end of these 70 degree days for awhile .
At 1:00pm when I got to the lake it was 73 . Best water temp I found was right at 62 and the fish were still there .
I was armed with 4 UL rods loaded with 2# line and my little box of Trout Magnets . I'm starting to love these Trout Magnets . They have replaced my Sliders for now .
I wasn't disappointed.
Around 4:30 when I headed the boat back toward the dock , I'd caught 33 crappies ( largest about 3/4 pound) 17 bluegills , 12 LM bass ( largest around 14" , most were 10-12") and another Gold Shiner .
What an awesome two days of UL fishing this week . Especially for January. Gillchaser
