Cottonwood trees are dropping seeds right now.  Carp will eat those seeds.  Toss out a small caddis pattern in front of a "sipping" Carp, and it will get slurped.

…i heard to intentionally try for them on the flyrod is to use a floating jig head baited with bread

These grass carp seem to really focus on top water floating objects. Baited objects work well on bottom though.

Thanks. Well I was using a Dalmatian colored popper on my 8wt. Honestly my arm had been tired of a day of swinging that joker. Thought I got it hung up started bringing it thinking I had a water logged stick. Got it about 9ft away and I guess it saw me and tore off. Scared the ghost out of me. 25 mins I finially got him in on 6lb mono. I would have never got it in without my rubber net and another set of hands.
