Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Made from a standard bottle cork, I followed suggestions from Tom Keith. These were in an old Bass Masters compilation, "The Best of BassMasters, 1968-1980."

This bug was done in the old "Coachdog" motif, one of my best catching patterns on Jitterbugs. I used a combination of nail polish and enamels for the finish.
The camera does a poor job of showing the "hot pink" face.

I had to retrofit the bug with an .022 mono weed guard, because I had forgotten to build it in at the outset.

I may never be able to cast thia bug with the rods I have, though. They are a bit light.
I may need to buy something new, just for the task... :-)

Thanks, Jim.
I love the "Coachdog" pattern for a number of reasons:
1. It looks very critter-like. For an old pattern it is realistic.
2. It is mostly forgotten today. This means the fish won't have seen it before.
3. It is easy and forgiving to reproduce.
4. It can be done in any range of colors. Do it froggy, or in stark contrast like this one.. You name it.
