I was taught that every day fishing is a free day Carl.....should have some money in the bank .....LOL.....It was good to get out and get some fresh air even if it was chilly.......catching a few nice gills made it fun......Hard to believe such an aggressive fish can be so delicate in these conditions.....I fished with a micro float and all it would do was just dip below the surface on most of the strikes, hence the importance of a well balanced float/indicator as many members have emphasized in past discussions.....

Yesterday's fishing was very rewarding since I have been working hard to find a bait/technique that will entice a few gills during the coldest conditions.....I caught fish year round in southern Louisiana growing up but the water temperatures normally stayed above 50 degrees all winter and high 50s most of the time and that made those efforts different. I've always saw "going fishing" as a reward in itself but catching a few fish adds a sense of accomplishment. I still count down to Spring like I've done for more than 30 years now, but days like yesterday serve as proof that effort and following advice can go far.  Thanks to the proven cold water anglers who have readily discussed proven techniques and methods for open water winter gills.......
