Well Jim, in Lake Perris, there is just a ton of food for these BGs to get fat on. Almost every time I go there is an aquatic insect hatch going on. You can literally see the bugs flying off the water surface. And I mean lots of them. Also the larger 'Gills eat baby shad and other fish.

It astounds me how those So-Cal coppers can go 2 lbs. on a fish that barely goes 11 inches. Relative body weights are off the charts!
