Do you love big bluegill?
I snapped this picture with the minnow still hanging out of the gill's mouth.....Fish are chunky and staging to go shallow......

I snagged me some of those Gulp minnows the other day, too. I got the smelt variety, $3.50 at Walmart. It was you, Jim, commenting on how long they last that got me interested.
Ill tote them along tomorrow and give them a whirl.
nice fish jeff have you tried the white 1" minnows
Thanks Jim...I picked up some Smelt and Emerald recently after you had mentioned using them in an earlier post.....Also found pumpkinseed that looked pretty good!
Thanks Tony..Good Luck to you this weekend.....I'm heading south this weekend so I'm excited about that.....weather still going back and forth here in North Carolina...
Hey Jeffrey, the Gulp 1" minnows are a good option too as the smelt pattern puts 'em on the bank here locally. Fish em on a 1/32 oz head below a bobber with a nice windy chop on the surface. Bobber just sinks out of sight slowly. Fish on!
I have caught as many as 30 fish on a single Gulp! minnow. They are deadly on crappie when the bite is on. And, yes, there are times when live bait will most surely outfish them. But they are a nice, early season option. I caught 114 crappie on them on 3-6-12 at a local sun-warmed cove.
Good fish Jeffrey! Hoping to get out this weekend myself.
I'm really becoming a believer in these chartreuse minnows....I started fishing them in October with good results and things have picked up right where they left off.....
