Thanks Jeff.
Go ahead Adam!.....keep catching them!
Thanks fellas. The pond is about 1/3 acre with a max depth of 9'-10', average depth is 6'-7' for most of the pond. Jim, I have noticed the fighting strength of these particular hybrids. They seem to try to dive for deeper water while making the circular fight of most Lepomis species. Most of these pumpkingills I catch have very round body dynamics which may aid their fighting abilities making it harder to move them through the water during the fight when they turn their bodies sideways.
any way yo uwant to look at it Adam-- thats still a nice one!
Nine inch class sunfish, of any species, are big fish in my book! Excellent fish, Adam!
Look how large that opercular tab is on this fish as compared to the true 'seeds...I think that's a bluegill trait. I bet that breast plate will get real dark copper along about spawning time.Do you notice these hybs to be noticeably stronger on the fight than either of the parent species?
Very nice Adam!
nice hybrid... how deep and large is your pond?
