Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hit Clear Creek in southern OH today to see what I could catch. Ended up getting my first brownie, so I was pretty happy even though its a little guy. This was more than likely just stocked a couple weeks ago by the DNR going by its size. Clear Creek is one of 3 places the DNR stocks browns in each October.

Yes John, a had a small split shot above the jig to get it out a little bit, and then let it drift down a run where I saw some boils. This little guy hit it toward the end of the run.

Adam , that jig is light for spinning gear ,did you let current take it down to a hole ,or use shot?

I believe it's a Weldon mini foo jig. I don't tie my own so I have to get them when I find them at local bait shops or something. I think the smallest size they make is 1/64 oz. but I could be wrong. A lot of people around here use them for steelhead tipped with a waxworm. I didn't have any live bait so had to fish it clean, was thrilled to get one regardless of the size.
