These Aisian carp got into the Ill river during a huge flood a few years back. They are a huge problem as they commonly jump high into the air and have hurt a number of boaters and damaged countless boats. They don't really take any baits too well but are snagged alot while casting for white bass. I caught a 18#,16#,+ two about 12# in 1 1/2 hours fishing the day I got the one in the photo. After catching 4 fish my arms were on fire. Had to pull anchor on all 4 so we could drift down stream to fight them or I would have lost all my 12# line . They head straight down the river and there is no turning them with all the current below the dams. Alot of fun to catch but more of a problem than I can tell you. Plus they are not fit for man or beast to eat. I had a photo of a turkey vulture perched on top of a dead carp searching the water for something better to eat. True story!!! They are like fertilizer with fins. The Ill river in my area is a walleye and white bass factory but these carp have changed things quite a bit as far as the fishing goes. Not to mention the very real danger of getting hit by one. If you are ever over this way give them a try in the spring and summer months. Mike N

Never seen nor have I caught one of these before. Where can you catch these? What do you use to catch them with? I live near the Ohio River- would they be in this river? Nice catch.
